New Dedicated Soft-Pigmented Contrast Printer, Videojet 1580 C, is Easy to Maintain as a Standard Printer

Printer behaves and performs as a dye-based printing machine

CHICAGO, March 28, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A global leader in coding, marking, and printing solutions with over 45 years of world class inkjet design experience, Videojet Technologies is pleased to announce the global launch of a new continuous inkjet (CIJ) printer, the Videojet 1580 C. As the industry’s first dedicated soft-pigmented printer, the 1580 C exclusively uses soft-pigmented contrast inks to print high-quality codes with superior uptime.

Innovations in hydraulics, as well as new patented ink and make-up fluid cartridge designs, bring the 1580 C’s running time and maintenance intervals to the same level as the standard Videojet 1580 CIJ printer. The Videojet 1580 platform is the basis for the 1580 C. The ergonomic design and similar features are available on the 1580 C.

The 1580 C is easy to operate and maintain. It also has the same cleaning cycles and preventive maintenance needs as dye-based printers. The fluid cartridge design reduces pigment blockages as well as printhead clogs, which are common in pigmented printers. The new design of the printhead increases uptime, as it allows for more time between cleanings.

The 1580C printer is designed to print codes with high quality, consistent contrast, and durability that will not fade or degrade during production runs. Conical mixer tanks improve ink recirculation and reduce pigment settling. This helps to increase ink consistency. Videojet Dynamic Calibration maintains superior print quality, even in changing environments.

The Videojet SIMPLiCITY The user interface provides code assurance by using error-proofing rules. These rules define editable fields and permissible data types. Date range restrictions are also used to limit printer interactions and reduce the possibility of user errors. Videojet OPTIMiZE is a tool that helps to manage ink, make-up, fluids forecasts, power wastage, and calculate future fluids.

“The 1580 C is ready to meet today’s printing challenges and whatever the future needs of Industry 4.0 are likely to demand,” said Xavier Chaveton, Business Unit Director for Videojet. An integrated Wi-Fi antenna allows printers to connect to internal networks for greater mobility. There is no need to run cables or hard wires. The printer’s webserver capability allows operators to access printers through supported web browsers on host computers, with up to five webserver sessions allowed for each printer. Cellular connectivity gives the printer direct access to the Videojet cloud without involvement from a company’s IT resources.

Videojet soft-pigmented Inks are specifically formulated for 1580 C. They have fast drying times, high resistance to light, heat, solvents, and transfer. Three new yellow and one black inks are available for the 1580C printer. They each have unique performance characteristics. Soft-pigmented inks with a lower settling rate have been created to maintain consistent contrast over time.
