Keypoint Intelligence has announced the 2021-2026 Worldwide Digital Textile Outlook. The forecast includes devices, inks, and applications used in wide format roll-to-roll textile printers geared to fabric print manufacturing for garment/sportswear, home décor fabrics, and industrial textiles.

Keypoint Intelligence discovered that digital textile printers can expect to experience growth in ecommerce software. This further allows them to accommodate consumer trends, customizations and move volumes to faster device segments. Production will shift from near-shore to off-shore as high volumes move closer towards consumption. Retailers and brands will demand sustainable and ethical solutions from their suppliers, further strengthening digital inkjet’s ability to reduce waste.

Johnny Shell, Keypoint Intelligence Principal analyst, stated that “Actual machine placings in 2021 rose 48% more than 2020 placements, well over what we expected,”. “In addition, digital print volumes in 2021 grew by 25%.”

The data was collected through primary and secondary field interviews with vendors of equipment, inks printheads, and materials as well as end user interviews. On-site visits were also made to production sites. To compare the actual 2020 and 2019 data, COVID-19’s effect in 2020 is included in this version. Soft signage data is also included in our Wide Format Printing Forecast.

Johnny will be speaking at this week’s Impressions Expo in Atlantic City, March 23-24, to discuss the state of digital textile and direct-to garment markets.
